Home in Silver Lake Has a Water Problem

The water supply line running through the attic sprung a leak and soaked the ceiling as shown in the Before Photo. The water stains are noticeable, and the ceiling material was weakened by the soaking. Our SERVPRO water damage restoration technicians informed the homeowner the best method of treatment was a demolition of the affected ceiling area. By opening up the ceiling, we can dry out the joists and prevent structural damage and a possible mold infestation. The wood was checked with a meter for moisture content, and the dehumidifiers and air movers worked until that level was gained. An antimicrobial agent was sprayed on the exposed areas before new drywall panels were installed. Our customer was very pleased with the outcome, no mess, no fuss and we kept him in the loop throughout the service. He stated it seemed "Like it never even happened."
