Silver Lake Suffers Smoke Damage in a Bathroom
When creams and lotions burn, the combusted sooty material is oily, sticky, and leaves a thick residue. This bathroom in Silver Lakes illustrates the mess left behind after a small fire using these types of fuel. Fortunately, hard surfaces like counter sink tops, vanities, and mirrors are non-porous and wipe up easily. FST technicians from SERVPRO can use special sponges, and handheld filtered vacuums to remove most of the residue. Since an enamel paint coated the walls and ceiling, these slick surfaces also were cleaned without leaving much staining. Our expertise resolved the problem with the smoke odors. We set up a hydroxyl generator to chemically change the odor causing particulates within this room and more. The exhaust vent on the ceiling was opened up, cleaned and then deodorized with a fogging agent, to prevent the circulation of bad air to other areas of the house. The homeowner was very satisfied with our clean up efforts and said he felt "Like it never even happened."
